Back in the day, a nurse gave my grandmother a hard time about continuing to smoke with emphysema. My grandmother responded thus:
“The vices of my generation are cigarettes and alcohol. The vices of your generation are illegal drugs and illicit sex.”
One can only imagine what she would have thought about my hometown. Boston has now outlawed smoking in public parks, but marijuana is legal for medicinal uses, gambling joints may be coming to the state, and abortions have been publicly funded since 1981.
Happy New Year, all.
